A passerby alerted police at about 3 p.m. Saturday to the car parked on the fifth floor of the casino’s garage, according to charging documents. In the backseat was the three-year-old boy, asleep in a carseat with a juice box and electronic tablet in his lap. A window was cracked about three inches.

Police and casino security used camera footage to identify the child’s mother, who allegedly had been in the casino for less than an hour and was playing roulette in Pit 9. Police said she identified the boy as her son and said she came to the casino because she needed money.

The child was taken by Child Protective Services and was found to be in good health after a hospital evaluation. Police and Horseshoe officials said Germany was barred from all Caesars casino properties for life.
